William D. "Bill" Greenwood, 78, of Shelbyville

William D. "Bill" Greenwood, 78, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2020

at MHP Medical Center.

 

Born April 17, 1942 in Morgan County, he was the son of Byron O. Greenwood and Lucille

(Dressler) Greenwood.  He married Marsha (Reaves) Greenwood on July 12, 1987 and she

survives.

 

Other survivors include 3 children- Tammy Greenwood (companion Chris Swanson) of Indianapolis,

Douglas O. Greenwood of Indianapolis, Nikki Stanifer (husband Jeff) of Indianapolis; the children's

mother Kathy Greenwood of Indianapolis; 2 stepson's- Brian K. Ernstes (wife Natalie) of Newton,

NJ., David "Lee" Ernstes (wife Angel) of Shelbyville; sister Beverly Greenwood of Indianapolis; 

7 grandchildren- Christopher, Cory, & Jordan Ernstes, Gage, Kole, Aubrey & Emma Greenwood;  

4 great grandchildren; and Canadian friends- Leonard & Shirley McCaw of Illinois, Paul & Char Buell 

of Illinois, and Al & Nancy Isfeld of Winnipeg, Manitoba.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Mr. Greenwood had lived in this area since 1993, after moving from Indianapolis.  He was a power

house supervisor for Allison Diesel Turbine for 32 years, retiring in 1993. He graduated from Southport High School in 1960, a member of American Legion Post #70, and was a US Army veteran. 

 

Bill surrendered his life to Christ and was a member of Grace Wesleyan Church of Shelbyville.

 

Bill was blessed to be able to spend 26 summers in Canada with his grandchildren and wife Marsha,

fishing, golfing, and bowling.

 

Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Monday, June 29, 2020 at Grace Wesleyan Church, 56 E. Franklin St., with Pastor Jose Rivera officiating.  Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.  Friends may 

call on Sunday evening, June 28, 2020 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road.

 

A military graveside service will be conducted by a local veterans organization.

 

Memorial contributions can be made to Grace Wesleyan Church in care of the funeral home.
