Imogene Rose Smothers, 87, of Greensburg

Imogene Rose Smothers, 87, of Greensburg, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2020 at her residence.

 

Born March 11, 1933 in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Notrie McClure. She married Carl Ray Smothers in 1951 and he preceded her in death on September 30, 2018.  

 

Survivors include children - Teresa (Larry) Davidson of New Palestine, IN; Bruce (Francine) Smothers of New Palestine;  Joseph A. Smothers of Greensburg, IN; Penny (Larry) Hensley of Homer, IN; Carson (Connie) Smothers of St. Paul, IN; Mandy (David) Wynn of Boggstown, IN. ; Siblings: Lou Holzhausen of Shelbyville; Janice Wilbur of North Vernon, IN;  Danny McClure of Shelbyville; and Alice Mann of Texas.  She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchilden. .

 

Mrs. Smothers was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and son - Robin Curtis Smothers.

 

Mrs. Smothers was a lifelong resident of this area. She retired from GE Wellman. She enjoyed watching horse races and all sporting events, and also enjoyed old westerns. She loved to swing on her back porch, but most of all loved her family.  

 

Private graveside services will be observed at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Shelby County with Pastor Roger Abraham officiating. 
 

Memorial donations may be made to Gleaners Food Bank in care of the funeral home.
