George A. Hoeltke, 93, of Shelbyville

George A. Hoeltke, 93, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021 at
Waldron Health & Rehab.


Born August 7, 1927 in Bartholomew County, he was the son of Alvin Hoeltke and
Viola (Armuth) Hoeltke.  He married his wife of 66 years, Betty (Kuhn) Hoeltke on
December 19, 1954 and she preceded him on April 13, 2020.  


Survivors include one son- Jace Hoeltke (wife Delia) of Shelbyville; 2 grandchildren,
and 3 step-great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his spouse,
a brother Norbert Hoeltke, and a sister Corine Thompson.


Mr. Hoeltke was a lifelong resident of this area, and graduated from Mt. Auburn High School.
He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #70, and had been 
employed for many years as a machinist at White Evans Elevator in Indianapolis, Reliance
Electric of Columbus, and Triumph of Shelbyville, retiring in 1991.  He was a US Army veteran,
serving in Austria with the 54th AA Division, during WWII.


George enjoyed wood carving, wood burning, and oil painting.  He also enjoyed raising Holstein
and Brown Swiss cattle, and was formerly a partner in Sunshine Farms near Edinburgh.


Private family services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 5, 2021 at Glenn E. George
& Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with Rev. David Humphrey officiating. 

 

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. 

 

No visiting hours will be observed.
