Reita Jeanne Bertsch, 88, of Greenfield

Reita Jeanne Bertsch, 88, of Greenfield passed away on July 25, 2021 at her home.

She was born to Marion A. and Delsa M. Brattain on October 30, 1932 in Putnam County, Indiana. She grew up on a farm there and graduated from Russelville High School. She received her B.A. and M.A. in Education from Indiana State University.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years John T. Bertsch Jr., two sons Jeffrey T. (Kathy) of Fishers, IN and Paul S. (Roxanne) of Bloomington, IN and two grandchildren Dylan Bertsch of Indianapolis and Grace Bertsch of Bloomington. Also surviving is a brother David Brattain of Columbus, OH and many nephews and nieces, all of whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Marilyn Gayle Wager.

Mrs. Bertsch was a long-time educator at Carmel High School, Greenfield High School and Greenfield-Central High School, where she taught business education. A consummate professional in every way, she was a role model for both her peers and her students through the years. She was a member of the Greenfield Christian Church where she was active in Dorcas Circle. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority, Delta Kappa Gamma, and was at one time a member of the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir.

In addition to her love of music, Reita loved her family and supported their many activities through the years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and hunting morel mushrooms in the spring.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2021 with services immediately following at Stillinger Family Funeral Home (Pasco Chapel), Greenfield, IN. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Greenfield Christian Church or InterVarsity Christian Fellowship.
