Mary Louise Barnard, 101, of Shelbyville

Mary Louise Barnard, 101, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Ashford Place Health Campus. 

 

She was born on February 6, 1921, the daughter of Ralph and Freda Richey of Waldron and was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, and brother Norman Richey. 

 

She graduated from Waldron High School in 1939 and married Bill Barnard

on June 15, 1941.   They lived on the family farm until husband Bill  passed away in July 2010.  Mary assisted with farm chores and was employed by the former Cunningham Gardens for a few years, although she was most proud to a dedicated wife, mother, and home maker.  

 

She was a lifelong member of the Waldron Baptist Church where she  served on many committees.  Her life was centered around her faith, family, and friends and will be remembered as a very kind, caring, and supportive person always willing to offer inspiring words of encouragement to others.

 

She enjoyed music, card games, traveling and sports, especially the basketball games of her family members.

 

Mary leaves behind 2 sons- William Barnard (wife Linda) and Paul Barnard (wife Melody), both of Shelbyville; 8 grandchildren- Lori Cummins (husband Kevin), Kristi Schwering, Tim Barnard (wife Teresa), Brad Barnard (wife Natalie), Beth Ballard (husband Andy), Ashley Kinder (husband Rob), Justin Barnard (wife Krystal), Jordan

Barnard (wife Whitney); and 13 great grandchildren- Josh Cummins (wife Sara), Emily Lantz (husband Brad), Kyle Schwering, Dakota Barnard, Drew Barnard, Jayden Dover (wife Kaitlyn), Lily Ann Gulley, Sadie Kinder, Ada Kinder, Jade Barnard, Ellie Barnard, Mia Barnard,  Izzy Barnard; and 4 great great grandchildren- Myles

Cummins, Emma Cummins, Charlie Lantz, and Eleanor Lantz.

 

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home,  437 Amos Road, with Dr. Robb Barlow officiating. 

 

Intombment will be in Van Pelt Cemetery. 

 

Friends may call on Tuesday evening, June 28, 2022, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at the funeral home.
