Daniel J. Maloney, 60, of Shelbyville

Daniel J. Maloney, 60, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday November 29, 2022 at his residence.

 

He was born August 4, 1962 in California. He was the son of James W. Maloney and Carole J. (Hart) Maloney and they survive.

 

He graduated in 1981 from Lincoln-Way High School in New Lenox, IL.   

 

He was inducted into the Lakota Sioux Tribe.

 

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.  Daniel was a highly decorated U.S. Army 1st Sergeant and received many awards and medals.  The two he was most proud of were his Bronze Star and Purple Heart.  In his retirement he took leadership roles in various volunteer positions that benefited the veterans and also his community.

 

Some of Daniel’s passions were golfing and bowling but his true passion was helping others.

 

He married Barbara L. (Teske) Maloney on December 7, 2020 and she survives.

 

Daniel is also survived by his sister, Cindy A. Beabout (husband, Greg); his brother, James W Maloney II  (wife Ann);  sister, Sheri L Maloney, 6 nieces, 10 nephews, 9 great-nieces, 16 great-nephews, step-sons, Aaron Anspaugh (wife Jessica), Alex Anspaugh, Alton Anspaugh (wife, Hannah); grandchildren, Link and Lucy Anspaugh.

 

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

 

Funeral services will follow at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Dr. Robb Barlow officiating.

 

Burial will be in Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens Heroes of Honor and Glory Section with military rites performed by local veteran organizations.

 

Funeral Directors, Greg Parks, Sheila Parks, Stuart Parks, and Darin Schutt are honored to serve Daniel’s family.

 

Memorial contributions may be given to Shelbyville Animal Shelter at 705 Hale Rd. Shelbyville, IN 46176 or to VFW Post 2695, 1622 E State Rd 44, Shelbyville, IN. 46176.
