Ezra P. Cradic, 86, of Boggstown, passed away Monday, October 28, 2019 at his residence.

Born September 26,1933 in Hawkins County Tennessee, he was the son of Rosen Blanchard Cradic and Molly Charlotte (McClain) Cradic. He married Elizabeth Ann (Purcell) Cradic on November 27,1957 and she survives.
Other survivors include children Kimberly Ann Arnold (husband Karl) of New Palestine; Kevin P.
Cradic (wife Sandra) of Shelbyville; Kristi S. Buis (husband Larry) of Fairland; Kara L. Cradic
(fiancé Chris) of Boggstown; brother Donald Cradic (wife Patsy) of Church Hill, Tennessee; Ulysses Cradic (wife Jeanie) of Tennessee; sister Ruth Ramey of Martinsville; grandchildren Lindsey Rush (husband Ryan), Robert N. Arnold, Kelly Cradic, Courtney E. Allen, Spencer E. Ayers, Keiara M. Lewis, Peyton M. Buis; great grandchildren Kalyn Dant, Logan Hosford, Khloe Hosford , Nicholas Rush, Bradon Chasteen, Brooklyn Allen, Carlee Allen and Bailey Allen; great great grandchildren Charlotte & Molly Allen.

He was preceded  in death by his parents, brothers Everett Cradic, Doyle Cradic, sister Lois Caldwell and brother-in-law Jack Ramey.

Mr. Cradic had lived in this area for many years after moving from  Indianapolis. He attended
Triton Central High School and was a member of Boggstown Presbyterian Church. He was employed with Navistar of Indianapolis in the engine plant for 30+ years, retiring in 2003, and Cradic Heating & Air Condition for several years.

He  was a Past Master of Sugar Creek Lodge, a member of Scottish Rite, York Rite, Murat Shrine since 1972, Eastern Star, Knights Templar, Hoosier Model A Club and a board member of Joseph Boggs Society.

Ezra enjoyed golfing, fishing, gardening, horses, time spent around the farm, and spending time with
his family and grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm on Friday, November 1, 2019 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with Pastor Donald Cradic officiating. Burial will be in Boggstown Cemetery.

Visitation will be observed on Friday afternoon, November 1, 2019, from 11:00am until the time of the service.  Masonic Rites will be conducted at 12:45 pm.

Otis Albert Carter, Jr., 71, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2019 at MHP Medical Center.

He was born March 31, 1948 in Evansville, IN. to Otis A. Carter, Sr. and Carrie (Lauer) Carter.

On, July 21, 1984, he married Luedith ‘Lou’ (Simpson) Carter, and she survives.  They cherished the 35 years they shared together.

He is also survived by his daughters, Heather Danielle Carter and Kaitlyn Michelle Carter; sister, Ann (Don) Swaney; cousins, Kathi (Paul) Held and Kevin (Elaine) Parks; and his four legged grand-cat, S.J. (Bubby).

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Otis graduated from Tell City High School in 1966.  While attending Tell City High School, he was a 4 year track and cross county stand-out athlete, where he held a 49 year record.  He earned his BA degree from Oakland City College in 1970, on a full ride scholarship for track.   He went on to earn his Masters of Arts degree in education from Western Kentucky University.

He retired in 2015, after 36 years as a fleet manager for the Indiana Department of Transportation.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he served for four years.  He was also a track runner while in the service.   

Otis was a member of the Tell City Masons, the American Legion in Tell City, and the Evangelical Church of Christ in Tell City.

Otis was an avid sports fan.  He enjoyed cheering on I.U., the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, and St. Louis Cardinals.  He also enjoyed attending Indy Car races, especially his annual trip to the Indianapolis 500.  In keeping with Otis’ loving and generous spirit, it was his decision to donate life so that others may live.

The family invites everyone to wear red or I.U. attire to honor Otis.

Dale Emerson McNamara, 83, of Fountaintown passed away Monday, October 28, 2019 at MHP Medical Center in Shelbyville.

He was born July 14, 1936, in Marion County, the son of Clyde E. and Carrie E. (Tanner) McNamara. On October 29, 1977, he married Carolyn Mosiman, and she survives.

In addition to Carolyn, Dale is survived by his daughter, Dana Fields and husband, Christopher, of Shelbyville. He was blessed to have special little friends, Riley Legan and Drew Legan, in his life, who were like grandchildren to him. Other survivors include sisters-in-law, Leslie Glidewell of Fayetteville, Georgia, and Karen McNamara of Fountaintown; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews; and many lifelong friends.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Delbert McNamara; and son, James “Jimmy” Koch.

He graduated in 1954 from Moral Township High School and attended various trade schools.

Dale was a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard, serving for nine years.

He was a farmer and carpenter. Dale was also the Shelby County Building Inspector for over 10 years.

Dale attended the Fountaintown Christian Church.

He was a member of Union Local No. 301 Carpenter Millwrights.

Dale enjoyed reading books, including reading the entire Bible. He also enjoyed discussing local history. Dale was a storyteller, told great jokes and was very witty.

He also leaves behind his dog, Molly.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, November 1, 2019 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

Christine Kaye “Chrissy” (Wagner) Taylor, age 50, of Fountaintown, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2019. She was born in Beech Grove on January 6, 1969 to Gilbert E. and Lois A. (Spangler) Wagner. Chrissy graduated from New Palestine High School in 1987. She married Frank William Taylor on August 13, 2005 at Carrollton United Methodist Church.

She currently worked for Loyal Manufacturing in Indianapolis as the office and shipping manager for over 20 years. Chrissy was a lifetime member of Carrollton United Methodist Church. She loved animals, especially her dogs, Belle, Butch, Oreo, and Diesel, and her cat, Angelica Kaye. She cherished spending time with her family and loved her two sons so much. She always enjoyed wood working with her dad in his barn and baking with her mom and sister. They always baked dozens of cookies each Christmas. Chrissy also enjoyed reading, watching mysteries, traveling, and visiting Frank’s hometown, Philadelphia.

Chrissy is survived by her husband, Frank Taylor of Fountaintown; parents, Gib and Lois Wagner of Fountaintown; sons, Ryan (Olivia Conder) Wagner and Vyncent Vanest both of Fountaintown; sister, Cathy (Roger) Higham of Fountaintown; aunts and uncles, Ron & Shirley Spangler of Greenwood, Fred & Mary Wagner of Indianapolis, and Nancy & Jack Simpson of Indianapolis; and several nieces, nephews, and one great-nephew. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Luther & Margaret Spangler and Lowell & Ethel Wagner; and uncle, Bob Wagner.

Jacob Alexander James, 17, of Waldron, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2019.

He was born March 26, 2002, in Indianapolis to Thomas Patrick James and Shelley Jean (Lanter) Adams.

Jacob is survived by his mom, Shelley (husband, Brian) Adams of Waldron; dad, Thomas P. James (Erica Joyce) of San Dimas, CA; sister, Abigail Joy James, step-brothers, Cole Adams and Ryan (Maura) Adams; maternal grandma, Betty (Ryle) Harrison; maternal grandparents, Tom (Lulia) Lanter, of AZ; Step-grandparents, Diana Ash (Erwin Fagel) of Waldron; step-grandfather, Tom Adams, step-grandmother, Rhonda Adams; aunts and uncles, Billy and Tracy Cole and Troy and Beth Lanter; uncle, George James; aunts, Susie Curnutt; Elda Cecilia Watts; Elizabeth Kesseler; and Rhonda James-Carter; and several cousins and extended family.

Jacob was preceded in death by his step-grandfather, Mike Ash; grandmother, Christine Wilson James; grandfather, Frank Marshall James, M.D.; and step-grandfather, Everett Harrison.

He was a senior at Waldron High School, a member of National Honor Society, and at the top of his class.  As a Kroger employee, he was a dedicated worker.

Jacob was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.  He is a registered member of the Osage Nation and was very proud of his American Indian heritage.  He was an Eagle Scout and member of BSA Troop 220, Waldron. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with his friends.  His most precious times were spent with his family and helping others.

He was a dedicated and hard working student and athlete.  Jacob had an infectious laugh and enjoyed encouraging and supporting his team mates, as well as his competitors.

Jacob enjoyed many youth sports, but excelled in track and cross-country at Waldron.  He was also the Waldron Mohawks mascot.

In his freshman and sophomore cross-country years he qualified for Semi-State.  In his junior year, he qualified for State.  This year, his senior year, he qualified for Semi-State, that will be held this weekend, at Blue River Cross Country course in Shelbyville. where a moment of silence will be observed in his memory. 

Jacob also excelled in track.  He qualified for State indoor track during his sophomore and junior years. In outdoor track, he earned many conference and county titles in multiple events.  His junior year, he qualified for State and broke the school 3200 meter record.

Jacob was a respectful young man, who enjoyed life to the fullest with emphasis on faith, family, friends, education, and sports.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 p.m., Friday, October 25, 2019 at Waldron High School.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Pall Hill Cemetery in St. Paul, with Dr. Robb Barlow officiating.

Odas C. Kaster, 78, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, October 14, 2019 at his residence.

He was born October 4, 1941, in Shelbyville to Earl L. Kaster and Frances M. (Smith) Kaster.                    

He married Kay Kemper in 1962, and she preceded him in death in 1972.  In 1978 he married Margaret McClain and she preceded him in death in 2017.

Mr. Kaster is survived by his sister, Lois Anne (Melvin) Griffith of Shelbyville; son, Jeffery C. Kaster (Sandra) of Shelbyville; daughter, Debra L. Wyatt of Indianapolis; daughter, Robin R. Kidder (Ernie) of Maryland; grandson, Nolan C. Kaster, granddaughter, Jenna K. Kaster, and grandson, Nicholas S. Kidder.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his two wives.

Mr. Kaster graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1960.  He worked for several years as a machinist.

He was a former member of the Eagles Lodge.  He enjoyed drawing, painting, and listening to music.  His most precious times were spent with his family and friends.

John Owen Phillips, 90, of Morristown passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Morristown Manor in Morristown.

He was born October 22, 1928, in Indianapolis, the son of Owen and Anna Phillips. On June 16, 1962, he married his wife of 57 years, Beverly Muir, and she survives.

In addition to Beverly, John is survived by his daughters, Pam Hitch and husband, Mike, of Shelbyville, and Sherry Wood and husband, Kevin, of Morristown; grandchildren, Jeremy Brown and wife, Rachel, K.C. Wood, Tasha McNeil and Trista Wood; great-grandchildren, Patience, Sidney, Emma, Karter, Kameron, Koleman, Kingston, Peyton and William; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Julian Phillips and Edmond Phillips; and sister, Olga Wolman.

John graduated in 1946 from Arsenal Tech High School in Indianapolis.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

John began working, as an electrician for Indianapolis Power and Light in 1967, retiring with over 30 years of service.

He was a member of the Murat Shrine and a 50-year member of the Morristown Masonic Lodge. John enjoyed tinkering.

He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown, with military graveside rites conducted by the local military committee.

Paul Britt, 77, of Waldron, passed away Friday, October 11, 2019 at Our Hospice Columbus, IN.

He was born August 30, 1942 in North Carolina to Jeston T. Britt and Rosa L. (Smith) Britt.

On February 18, 1983, he married Teresa ‘Terri’ Yonts, and she preceded him in death on May 5, 2007.

Paul is survived by children Theresa Sosbe of Fairland, Natalie Hollar of Shelbyville, Robert Britt, of Waldron, Jennifer Hockersmith of Shelbyville, Patrick Britt, of Shelbyville, Lisa Bohman of Everton, Brian Britt of Frankfort; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, ex-wife, Ella Britt, siblings, Faye Koonce, Richard ‘Buddy’ Britt, Linda Long and Donna Hacker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, and 2 sisters.

Paul was a U.S. Army veteran.  He loved being outdoors, fishing, watching NASCAR and spending time with his family.

Gregory D. “Gregg” Roe, 66, of Shelbyville passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

He was born April 13, 1953, in Shelbyville, the son of Robert E. and Jean (Cobb) Roe. On November 5, 1977, he married his wife of 41 years, Mary Ann Broughton, and she survives.

In addition to Mary, Gregg is survived by his sister, Terry Bastin and husband, Jeff; mother-in-law, Vi Broughton; brother-in-law, James Broughton and wife, Debbie; sisters-in-law, Linda Dennis and husband, Steve, and Pam Laughlin and husband, Tom; and nieces and nephews, Nick Bastin, Emily Cramer, Angela Romain, Marcie Farley, Jodi Broughton, Steve Dennis, Nathan Cline, Becky Cline, Scott Laughlin, Christy Laughlin and Brady Laughlin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and father-in-law, Estel “Tuck” Broughton.

Gregg graduated in 1971 from Shelbyville High School.

He owned and operated Roe’s Lawn Care.

Gregg was a member of the American Legion.

He loved all animals, especially his dogs and cats.

Gregg enjoyed gardening, and loved to give away the produce he raised.

Robert (Bob) Garrison reluctantly left this world on Saturday, October 5th, 2019 after a long battle with COPD and cancer.

He was born Robert Junior Garrison on March 18th, 1933 in Rushville. He was the last surviving child of Jeannette (McCarty) and Oliver Morton Garrison. 

Bob retired from Great States (American Lawnmower) in Shelbyville in 1998 with 40 years of service. Never one to sit still, he later developed a can route in Shelbyville. Bob became known as the "Can Man" as he traveled first by truck and later by bicycle to collect aluminum cans. He retired from his can route in 2012. 

One accomplishment, of which he was most proud, was his military service. Robert was a United States Army Veteran and served during the Korean War from 1953-1956. He was stationed in Seoul, and spoke often about his time in Korea and Japan. His Honorable Discharge was always prominently displayed in his living room. 

Bob was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt and fish. He spent many days fishing at the old Triple Lakes in Laurel. He also won many fishing pools at Dick's Lake and the 11011 in Indianapolis. 

Bob had a real zest for life. He loved music and he loved to dance. He could often by found at the American Legion in Shelbyville or Columbus. His mother lovingly nicknamed him Jiggs, because he could not sit still and was always in motion. 

Bob will be remembered as someone that loved to have a good time and make people laugh. he often repeated a line from an old beer commercial: "You only go around once in life, so grab for all the gusto you can get."

Robert is served by his daughters; Melissa (Tom) Angelo of Rushville, Linda (Steve) Pratt of Rising Sun, Julie Stanton of Greenwood and his sons Eddie Garrison of Mt. Vernon, Kentucky and Alan Garrison of Shelbyville. In 2004, Robert learned he had another daughter, Lynette Jankowski of Phenix City, Alabama. Bob has several grandchildren which include Michael Angello, Chris, Jennifer and Adam Jankowski, Jeffrey Mullen Jr., Jacob Pratt, Christopher, Justin, Nicole and Tony Stanton, Tim and Ashley Garrison. In addition, there are several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Robert enjoyed a special bond with his grandson, Michael Agnello. Michael proved to be his grandfather's brightest light, even on bob's darkest days. Michael's companionship was instrumental in extending Bob's life beyond what anyone thought possible. Robert was predeceased by his parents, two older brothers, Richard and Charles Garrison and two younger sisters, Beverly Palmer and Marjorie Boggs. Bob was married 5 times and predeceased by 4 ex-wives; Jean Creech, Mabel DeBoard, Blanche Louise Blanton, and Letha Joan Pierce. His last ex-wife, Diane Carey, survives.

Robert attended Rushville High School. He was a member of the Salvation Army, and former member of the American Legion, VFW and the Eagles. 

Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home. 437 Amos Rd., with Ronnie Caine officiating.

Friends may call on Thursday morning from 11:00 AM until the time of the services.  Burial will be in East Hill Cemetery in Rushville

Brent Alan John, 57, former Shelbyville resident, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born February 11, 1962 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Lowell and Annette Chueden John.

Brent was a 1981 graduate of Greenfield High School.

He was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Air Force.

Brent was employed by Langham Logistics until his health forced him to stop working in August 2019. His co-workers loved him so much that they donated their own personal PTO to him to last him through October 5, 2019.

He enjoyed listening to talk radio, especially WIBC. He loved IU basketball, the Indy 500 and NASCAR. Additionally, he went to as many Cincinnati Reds games as he could.

Brent is survived by his sisters, Susan John and Janis Hentrup and her husband, Mark; cousins (that were more like brothers) Scott and Brian Richardson; and many other family members and friends.

Brent’s sisters would like to thank everyone who visited Brent and kept him in their thoughts and prayers. They request that memorial donations be made, in his honor, to The Gathering Together in Plainfield where he spent his final days.

Joyce A. Slaven, 79, of Fairland, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2019 at MHP Medical Center.

Born May 3, 1940 in Monticello, Kentucky, she was the daughter of George Woody and Geneva (Meredith) Woody. She married Oran Ray Slaven and he survives.

Other survivors include 3 children- Donald Ray Slaven (wife Anita) of Shelbyville,
Michael Slaven (wife Thresa) of Morristown, Chastity Crain (husband Joey) of
Shelbyville; a sister Shirley Simpson of Monticello, Kentucky; 7 grandchildren, and
9 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Oran
Eugen Slaven, several brothers and sisters, and grandson Jeremy Slaven.

Mrs.Slaven had lived over 60 years in this area, after moving from Kentucky.  She
had been a cook at the old Chicken & Steal Inn for many years, and  also had been
a door greeter with Wal Mart for several years.

She was a member of the Fairland Christian Church.  
Joyce enjoyed traveling, shopping, going out to eat, and spending time with her 
family and grandchildren.

Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with Pastor Les Beardon officiating. 

Burial will be in Fairland Cemetery.

Diana Kay Tanner, 68, of Shelbyville passed away Sunday, October 6, 2019 at her home.

She was born August 22, 1951, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Marion F. “Smiley” Rutherford and Molene (Turner) Roszell.

On November 6, 1993, she married Martin Carrol Tanner, and he survives.

In addition to Martin, Diana is survived by her daughters, Dawn Marie Elrod, and Wendi Michele Ogden and husband, Andrew, all of Shelbyville; son, Joshua Shane Tanner and wife, Mary, of Kyle, Texas; sister, Carolyn Talbert and husband, Mike, of Wetumpka, Alabama; brothers, Ray Rutherford and wife, Bonnie, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Marion Rutherford and wife, Joyce, of Somerset, Kentucky; grandchildren, Lindsay Lucas and husband, Bradley, Ashli Elrod, Kayla Maynard, Tanner Elrod, Zyon Maynard, Peter Tanner, Milana Tanner, Madison Ogden and William Ogden; and great-grandchildren, Ashe Lucas, Aurora Lucas and Alexander Lucas.

Diana was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Kathy Aldridge.

She was a 1969 graduate of Shelbyville High School.

Diana was a member of the West Street United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir.

She retired from Freudenberg NOK in 2016, with 32 years of service.

Diana loved her family and cherished the time she spent with them.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, October 11, 2019 at the funeral home, with Rev. Robert Keck officiating.

Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.

Sarah Fay Tucker, 63, of Indianapolis, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born September 1, 1956, in Shelbyville, to Bert Kenneth Shepard and Freda Louise (Thomas) Shepard.

She married Tommy Tucker, and he survives. They enjoyed 31 loving years together.

Sarah is also survived by her daughter, Heather Bade (husband, Naseer) of Indianapolis; son, Frank ‘Butch’ Kikendall (wife, Chandra) of Shelbyville; grandkids, Michael Kikendall, Michaela Kikendall, Marcus Kikendall, Jaila Cox, Jenna Cox, Zara Bade; and siblings, Kenneth Anderson, Freddie Shepard, Ronnie Shepard, Bobby Shepard (wife, Debby); Tom Shepard (wife, Debbie); Lou Ann Miller and Pamela Hodgetts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Roger, Frankie, and Terry Shepard, and sister, Nona Sue Shepard.

She had been employed at Culpepper for 20 years. 

Sarah was an avid reader.  She enjoyed being out on the water and fishing.  Sarah had a special love for cats.  Her most precious times were spent with family, especially when there was food involved.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 6 p.m, Sunday, October 6, 2019 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Services, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN 46176.

Derek Bradley Beagle, 44, passed away in Shelbyville, IN.

He was born January 9, 1975 in Greenfield, IN to Thomas A. Beagle and Sandra (Rogers) Cassidy and they survive.

Derek is also survived by his sons, Kaden Douglas Branam and Conner Warren Bradley Beagle, sister, Jessica L. Beagle-Ross, and maternal grandmother, Wilma Ione Rogers, all of Shelbyville; nieces and nephews, Kennedy Curry (Cody), Delaney Ross, Jackson Ross, Tanner Ross, and Eliza-Jayne Land; great niece, Kendall Ross; aunt, Cheryl Everhart; uncle, Doug Rogers; several cousins, and his beloved dog, Terry.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, John Rogers; paternal grandparents, Omer and Ruby Beagle; uncle, Tom Everhart, and his other beloved dog, Chippy Salsa.

Derek graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1993 and attended Ball State University.  Derek was a carpenter.

He attended Hope’s Point Church.  Derek loved music and playing the guitar.  He enjoyed being outdoors.   His greatest joy was being around his family and loved ones.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Services, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN 46176.

Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Edwin Mohr officiating.

Burial will be in Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens and Crematory.
