David Wayne Howell,  68, of Greenfield, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2021 at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Indianapolis.

David was born January 4, 1953 in Indianapolis to the late James L. and Dorothy (Gray) Howell. He was a graduate of Mundelein High School, Mundelein, Illinois.

David married Debby (Roberts) Howell on July 8, 1972. He worked for his family business, B.H.W. Water Conditioning most of his career. A long-time member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, David served as a Bishop for the Cumberland Ward and as High Counselor for The Indianapolis North Stake. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan, enjoyed John Wayne movies, the Beatles and spending time on the beach. Above all, David was a devoted husband, father and grandpa and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Debby; children, Michael (Linda Marie) Howell, Shauna (Lance) Williams, Sarah (Ryan) Griesemer, and Stephanie (Randy) Reeves; grandchildren, Sarah, Natalie, Storm, Gunnar, Gray, Scout, Lincoln, Johanna, Lyla, Rogue, Copeland, Tana, Boone, and Tara; siblings, James Howell, Elizabeth Jane Eakes, Pam Gwinnup, and John (Sandy) Howell.

David is preceded in death by his parents, listed above; brothers, Dennis Howell, and Kevin Howell; and stepmother, Betty Howell.

Monte Brent Gruell, 63, Greenfield, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 29, 2021. He was born on June 12, 1957 in Greenfield to Robert T. and Marcella J. (Purcell) Gruell. Monte is a 1976 graduate of Greenfield Central High School. He married his love Tina Marie Potts on September 24, 1983.

After high school Monte took an apprenticeship to become a meatcutter. He was employed with Kroger’s for many years before retiring in 2014. He retired a second time in 2017 from Tyner Pond Farm. Monte and Tina traveled extensively from the Bahamas, Alaska, Hawaii, Florida, and everywhere in between. The children and grandchildren even accompanied them both on some vacations. Monte loved to fish and hunt as well as spend time with his grandchildren.

Monte is survived by his loving wife Tina of 37 years; their children: Heather Lorenz and Dawn Gruell (Ben Adcock); grandchildren: Cinnamon Smith, Meadow Smith, River Gruell, and Trenton Gruell; and brothers: Robert ‘Stan’ (LeeAnn) Gruell, Greg Gruell, and Brad (Barbara) Gruell and many nieces and newphews.

Gary D. Ferrell, 62, Maxwell, IN, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2021. He was also affectionately known as Fuzzy to many, including his nieces and nephews. Gary was born on September 21, 1958 in Indianapolis, IN to Homer R. and Myrtle S. (Davis) Ferrell.

Gary was a tremendously talented carpenter and worked not only for Service Drywall in Indianapolis for 20 years, but also loved to remodel and build things around his own house. He loved to fish and camp as well as relax in the outdoors and nature. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He attended Bethel Baptist Church in Greenfield. He was also a huge Harley Davidson fan. He married Carolyn Sue Larmore.

Gary is survived by his loving wife Carolyn Sue Ferrell; children: Jason Wilder (Sara), Nicki (Josh) Waterman, and Christi (Wes) Evans; 5 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 8 siblings: Charlotte, Sharon, Lisa, Donna, Bobby, Steve, Danny, and Billy; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Homer R. Ferrell; mother, Myrtle Sue Moon; and sister, Virginia.

Thomas E. Morrissey, 74, of Shelbyville passed away Thursday, March 25, 2021, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born June 17, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Emmett and Marian (Groener) Morrissey.

Thomas is survived by his sons, Patrick Morrissey and wife Kanthi, of New York, Kevin Morrissey and wife, Michelle, of Chicago, and Brian Morrissey and wife, Svetlana, of Tennessee; daughter, Katie Beazley and husband, Brian, of Chicago; brothers, Dennis Morrissey and Jerry Morrissey, both of Chicago; sisters, Marion Franke, Lori Connelly, and Elaine Pameditis. all of Arizona, and Patricia Callahan of Champaign-Urbana, Illinois; grandchildren, Joe, Nathan, Maggie, Ben, Veda, Sara, Matthew, Ryan and Samantha; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John Morrissey, Frank Morrissey, Bill Morrissey and Jim Morrissey; and sister, Sister Kathleen Morrissey.

Thomas graduated in 1964 from De La Salle High School.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Thomas worked for the Chicago Pipefitters Local No. 597 for over 30 years.

Donnie E. Wilson, 70, of Shelbyville passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at his residence.

He was born July 25, 1950 in Shelbyville to Raymond Wilson and Gertie (Gaddis) Wilson.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Rowe) Wilson, his daughter, Kelly Johnson, his son, Kevin Wilson, his grandchildren, Ashton Killey, Braden Barnard, and Haley Wilson, his great-grandchildren, Kinley, Emrey, and Grady, his beloved dogs, Rosco and Mazy, his brothers, Charles (Barbara) Wilson, and Steve Wilson, and his sisters, Linda Stevens, Phyllis Leake, and Louise (Charles) Olsen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Garnet Wilson and Wilburn Wilson.

Donnie was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from Arvin’s where he worked as a welder. 

Donnie enjoyed being outdoors.  He could be found in his garden or at the water, fishing.  He also enjoyed drinking a cold beer.  His favorite times were spent with his family and grandkids.

Linda L. Johnson, 78, of Morristown passed away Monday, March 22, 2021 at her daughter’s home in Fishers.

She was born September 5, 1942, in Indianapolis, the daughter of Oliver Carvin and Ruth (Bentley) Harris. On July 7, 1961, she married Robert D. “Beanie” Johnson, and he preceded her in death on December 1, 2009.

Linda is survived by two daughters with Beanie, Marietta L. Carlton of Morristown, and Kay Anne Gettelfinger and husband, Bart, of Fishers; brother, Dale C. Harris and wife, Bonnie, of Fairland; grandchildren, Jacob Carlton, Kaylin VanBenthuysen and husband, Matthew, Heath Carlton and Zane Gettelfinger; great-grandson, David VanBenthuysen; sister-in-law, Sandy Harris of Brownsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to Beanie, Linda was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Danny R. Harris.

She is also survived by a biological daughter, Kim Vink and husband Craig of Great Bend Kansas, who she was reunited with in the last week of her life.

Linda graduated in 1960 from Morristown High School.

She was a member of the Morristown Christian Church and American Legion Auxiliary. Linda served on the staff of Hoosiers Girls State for 20 years.

She was the bookkeeper for Duane’s Sales and Service, for 35 years. Linda was very devoted to the family business.

She enjoyed keeping her home and garden in excellent condition. She also made the best cherry pies from the cherry trees in her yard.

Linda loved her family and enjoyed creating memories with her grandchildren and great-grandson.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at the funeral home, with Rev. Fred Hickman officiating.

Larry V. Cundiff, 64, of St. Paul, passed away Friday, March 26, 2021 at his residence.

He was born December 8, 1956 in Somerset, Ky to M.C. Cundiff and Virginia (Dalton) Cundiff.

Larry graduated from Franklin Central High School in 1974.  He was a member of Arlington Avenue Church in Indianapolis.

Larry had various occupations up to his last place of employment at Boston Scientific Corp. in Spencer, IN.  Larry enjoyed being outdoors, especially in the woods hiking and hunting Ginseng.  He also enjoyed the times he was able to spend at Myrtle Beach and other beaches in Florida.

Larry is survived by his mother, his brother, David Cundiff, his grandson, Randall Cundiff, both of Indianapolis; his nephews, Sam Cundiff and Danny Cundiff; his nieces, Karen Testrake and Jessica McLain; his great-nieces, Daisy McLain and Mia Cundiff and his great-nephew, Dean McLain.

He was preceded in death by his father, his maternal grandparents, Vola and Ella Dalton; his paternal grandparents, Charles and Bonnie Cundiff, and his sister-in-law, Judy Cundiff

Kevin William Roche, of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at the young age of 31. He was born in Indianapolis, IN to Michael W. and Debra J. (Barnett) Roche. He is a 2008 Greenfield Central High School graduate.

Kevin endured many trials and hurdles throughout life, but he always persevered with a smile on his face and cheer in his heart. Kevin was employed in quality control with Keihin North America, Greenfield. He loved to play video games and his passion of games was shared with at least his father, sister, and son. He also loved to fish and camp. He loved Star Wars and Star Trek. Before working at Keihin, Kevin worked as a handyman as well as in construction. But, above all, Kevin loved spending quality time with his son.

Kevin is survived by his 11year old son, Devin Roche; father, Michael Roche; sister, Crystal Roche (Patience Wooten); step-sister, Alicia Kuhstoss; many cousins; mother-of-his son, Kassie Fock; and soon-to-be-here nephew, Christian Roche.

Kevin was preceded in death by his mother, Debra Roche; step-mother, Wendy Roche; grandfather, Robert William Roche, Jr.; and step-sister, Abigail Elizabeth Roche.

Shelley Dawn Robertson, 44, of Indianapolis, formerly of Shelbyville passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at her home.

She was born May 19, 1976, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Larry Robertson and Lisa (Bastin) Lay.

Shelley is survived by her father of Shelbyville; mother and step-father, Allen Lay, of Shelbyville; significant other, Matt Daniels of Indianapolis; brother, Matt Robertson and wife, Cassy, of Shelbyville; sister, Holly Robertson and significant other, Wendell Stewart, of Waldron; step-son, Jay Daniels and spouse, Will Flohr, of Greenwood; brother-in-law, Sean Daniels and wife, Starie, of Indianapolis; former sister-in-law, Erin Harmon of Shelbyville; nieces, Tatum Robertson and Leila Stewart; and nephews, Sam Robertson, Brayden Stewart, Joel Stewart, Ethan Lay and Camdyn Lay.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Robert and Wilma Jean Bastin; and paternal grandparents, Paul and Myrtie Robertson.

Shelley graduated in 1994 from Shelbyville High School, and received her bachelors degree in psychology from Hanover College. While attending high school and college, Shelley enjoyed playing softball.

For over 20 years, she was a social worker wrap around facilitator, for Community Health East Gallahue.

Shelley loved sea turtles and was very concerned about their rehabilitation.

She also enjoyed music, sewing and crafting.

Lois J. McDonald, age 87 of Greenfield passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at her home.

She was born October 1, 1933 in Indianapolis to the late Art Ferguson and Eloise (Phillips) Hallam.

Lois was a 1952 graduate of Thomas C. Howe High School. She married Robert McDonald on August 29, 1952. Together they made home in Greenfield and raised their family. Lois was an owner of many Chicago Pizza franchises with her husband Bob.

Lois enjoyed playing golf and was a long-time member of the Riley Wranglers square dance club with her husband Bob. Lois never knew the word no and was always ready to help when asked.

Above all, she loved her children and grandchildren and loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” McDonald, children, Steve (Lisa) McDonald, Mark (Karen) McDonald, Jeannette Colip and Diana Parker; grandchildren, Candace (Michelle) Sexton, Keely (Brandon) Butrum, E.J. Parker, Christopher (Lauren) Colip, Kaitlyn McDonald, Emily (Brett) Peterson; and great grandchildren, Leila, Lydia, Molly, Kate, Baxter, Samuel, Peyton and Ava.
She is preceded in death by her parents, listed above and son-in-law, Dean Parker.

Brenda D. Spurling, 61, of Straughn passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at her home.

She was born February 1, 1960, in Rushville, the daughter of Jacob and Louise (Spurlin) Whitten. On February 4, 1977, she married her husband of 44 years, James T. “Jim” Spurling, and he survives.

In addition to Jim, Brenda is survived by her sons, Joseph Spurling and Bradley “Brad” Spurling, both of Straughn; grandchildren, Jaxon Tyler Spurling and Maci Rae Spurling; brother, Kenny “Dale” Whitten of Shelbyville; sisters, Cathy Shively and husband, Jay, and Lisa Shephard and husband, Steve, both of Shelbyville, Martha Fischer and husband, John and Sue Cecil and husband, Larry, both of Waldron; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Paul Rouse.

Brenda was formerly a caregiver and had worked as a cook.

She enjoyed crocheting, doing crafts and singing.

Brenda loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and enjoyed creating memories with them.

Carolyn Arlene Hanneman, 86, of Fairland, passed away Monday, March 22, 2021 at her residence.

She was born May 19, 1934 in Shelbyville to William and Alberta Baxter.

On April 5, 1953 she married her husband of 67 years, William F. Hanneman and he survives.  Carolyn is also survived by her sons, Michael W. Hanneman of Shelbyville, and Randal S. Hanneman (spouse, Ronda), of Fairland, her grandchildren, Randal S. Hanneman, Jr., Derek W. Hanneman, Shelbi R. Hanneman, Christian J. Hanneman, Emily A. Hanneman, and Jacob M. Hanneman; her great-granddaughter, Elizabeth P. Hanneman; her brothers, Carol W. Baxter of Greenwood and Richard Baxter of California.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Jean Boaz.

Carolyn was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.  She cherished the bonds she had with her family.  Her favorite times were spent caring for and making memories with her family and loved ones.

A. Louise Spurling, 95,  of Waldron, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Jennings Adult Care  in Garfield Heights Ohio. 

Born September 18,1925 in  Indianapolis Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Dewey and Mamie Moore.  She married John Henry Spurling and he preceded her in 2012.
 

Louise is survived by 2 daughters, Kathleen Spurling O’brien of Indianpolis,  Mary Alice Spurling Nemeth (husband Ronald Louis Nemeth) of Parma Ohio; Grand daughter Mary Louise Nemeth Kreager  (husband Roger), Grand son , James Michael Nemeth (wife Michele); Great grand children Tania Nemeth, Tamar Nemeth, Lily Sewell, Ethan Nemeth and Tyler Kreager, all of Canton Michigan; and longtime friends Paul Kenny Hornsby and Mary Ann Hornsby of Shelbyville.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, and son-in-law Tom O'brien.

Mrs. Spurling had lived in the Cleveland Ohio area since 2012, and was a resident of Jennings Adult Care the last few years.  She had farmed with her husband Henry.  She was a member of  Moscow Christian Church and Farm Bureau Club.

Louise was past Treasurer of Indiana State Homemaker's Club, and received Grand Champion ribbons for her sewing during the Rush County Fair, qualifying her to model her dresses during the Indiana State Fair for many years. 

Graveside service will be 10:00 am on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Forest Hill Cemetery with Paul Hornsby officiating. 
 

Earl Dean Russell, 82, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, March 22, 2021 at MHP Medical Center.

He was born April 14, 1938 in Russell Springs, KY to Earl Russell and Beulah (Wilders) Russell.

He married Carol Sue Carnes on April 18, 1999, and she survives. Earl is also survived by his son, Rick (Missinda) Russell of Muncie; his daughter, Jeanie Mohr of Waldron; his grandsons, Cody (Katie) Russell of Rush County and Lt. Jarrett Mohr of Baymholcher, Germany, (significant other, Lt. Monique Moussa of Colorado); his step-children, Debbie (James) Jagger; Jeff Carnes, Tony Carnes and Sherry Gibbson; his step-grandchildren, Dustin Handley, Chad Jagger, Brandon Jagger, Jessica Jagger, Kyle Carnes, Joey Carnes and Brandon Carnes.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Kelly Russell.

Earl was a U. S. Army veteran. He worked at Wellman Industries.  Earl was an avid sports participant.  He enjoyed coaching his children’s sports activities.

Lori Kathleen Eacret, 63, of Fairland, passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at her residence.

She was born May 6, 1957 in Lebanon, IN to Gilbert Ferguson and Eula Mae (Duncan) Ferguson. 

Lori was employed with ATI as a Physical Therapist working at Honda manufacturing of Indiana.

Lori was a member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church.  She enjoyed scuba diving and camping. 

She was an avid runner.  Lori graduated from Warren Central High School and from IUPUI with a B.S. in Physical Therapy.

She married Damon Eacret on December 18, 1991, and he survives.  She is also survived by her son, Timothy Eacret, her sisters, Gail (Bob) Matheson, Sharon (Jerry) Porter, and Debbie (Vince) Vertucci, and her brother, Randy Ferguson.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Southside Reformed Presbyterian Church, 6969 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis, IN 46217.

Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with Reverend David Hanson officiating.

Burial will be in Menden Cemetery in Hancock County.

Janet Kay Adkins, 70, of Fairland passed away Monday, March 22, 2021, at her home.

She was born December 12, 1950, in Sidney, Nebraska, the daughter of Eugene and Norma (Vincent) Dobbins. On June 7, 1967, she married her husband of 53 years, Walker Adkins, and he survives.

In addition to Walker, Janet is survived by her son, Brian Adkins and wife, Gracia, of Shelbyville; daughter, Lori Gregory and husband, Rick, of Shelbyville, sisters, Judy Fuller and husband, Tim, of Shelbyville, Mary Gerrian and husband, Dale, of St. Paul and Charlene Turpin and husband, David of Shirley; brothers, Thomas Dobbins of Shelbyville and Kevin Dobbins of Flat Rock; grandchildren, Laura Owens and husband, Kenneth, Travis Gregory, Madisson Adkins and McKenzie Adkins; and great-grandchildren, Mackensie Owens, Brianna Owens, Brylee Owens and Kaylee Owens; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mary Carter of Florida, Rita James of Franklin, Sammy Adkins of Florida, Beatrice Banta of Franklin, Barbara Hart of Franklin, Helena Gibbs and husband, Jerry, of Franklin, David Harris of Bargersville, and Cindy Harris of Franklin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Joyce Case; and step-mother, Donna Dobbins.

Janet graduated from Shelbyville High School.

She retired in 2011, from NAS Corp, where she had been employed for 11 years.

Janet enjoyed reading the Bible and working crossword puzzles.

Gladys I. Clay, 99, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, March 19, 2021 at

Walker Place.

Born January 10, 1922 in Litchfield Township, Michigan, she was the daughter

of Ernest Wade and Virgie (Harrier) Wade.  She married Thomas Keith Clay on

April 21, 1946, and he preceded her on August 8, 2014.

Survivors include 4 children- Mary Armstrong of Morristown, Jeffrey T. Clay (wife

Cindy) of Shelbyville, Jennifer M. Kiesel (husband William) of Greenwood, Joseph W.

Clay (wife Judy) of Shelbyville; 13 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.  She was

preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, 3 brothers, 1 sister, and 1 grandson-

Kyle Clay.

Mrs. Clay had lived in this area since 1964, after moving from Richmond Indiana.

She was a home maker,  and had graduated from high school in Litchfield, and was a 

member of First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville.

Gladys loved birds and dogs, crocheting, gardening and canning, camping, and

reading.

Private graveside services will be observed.  Burial will be in Park Cemetery in Greenfield.

Reverend William H. Beauchat, 87, Greenfield passed away Sunday, March 14, 2021 at Greenfield Health Care.

He was born December 5, 1933 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Harold and Marie (Hill) Beauchat.

William was a graduate of Davenport High School, Davenport, IA, and the Missionary Bible Institute. He was the pastor at the Eastside Church of The Nazarene, Canton, IL; then at Shirley Church of The Nazarene, Shirley, IN; and then at Greenfield Wesleyan Church, Greenfield, IN, for 20 years.

William also enjoyed a long tenure with Allison’s. He was a former president of the Hatfield Camp in Cleveland, IN, and EMT for Estell Ambulance Service, Shirley, IN. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting coins, arrowheads, and rocks.

He is survived by his children: Bruce Beauchat, Daniel (Julie) Beauchat, Karen Noble and Tina Marcum; sister, Shirley Taylor; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and 6 nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jean Edna (Farrance) Beauchat; and sister, Lou Schebler.

Mary Jane Brown, 79, of Greensburg passed away Friday, March 12, 2021 at Aspen Place Health Care in Greensburg.

She was born July 18, 1941 in Cambridge City to Clarence Lawrence and Hazel (Brook) Lawrence.

Mary will be greatly missed by her husband of 59 years, Charles Brown, her daughters, Penny (Rick) Brown-Wood of Greensburg; and Lisa (Merle) McFadden of Florence; her sons, Tim (Sally) Brown of Freeport; and Bryan (Tara) Brown of Greensburg, her siblings, Gene (Bev) Lawrence of Tipton; Phyllis Doyle of Connersville; Carolyn Hayes of Cambridge City; Kay (Bob) Ripberger of Arlington; and Bobby (Dorothy) Lawrence of Arcadia, FL. and her sister-in-law, Millie McVey of Shelbyville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Joe Lawrence, her sister, Betty Purvis, her brothers-in-law, Bob Brown, Jim Brown and his wife, Mary, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Orville and Adeline Brown.

She graduated from Greensburg High School.  Mary retired from housekeeping after many years of service at various extended living care facilities.

She enjoyed reading romance novels, and coloring in adult coloring books.  Her hobbies also included doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles.

Spending time with her family was her favorite pastime, especially during the holidays and at special family events.

Robert Arthur Lardon, 81, of Fairland, formerly of Plymouth, Wisconsin, passed away Friday, March 12, 2021 at Franciscan Hospice House in Indianapolis.

He was born October 15, 1939, in Greenfield, the son of Arthur Earl Lardon and Ruth (Murphy) Adamson.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Robin Lunsford of Indianapolis, Christy Leggins and husband, Brian, of Fairland, and Molly Lentz and husband, Mark of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; sons, Jason Spinsky of Denver, Colorado, and Jon Spinsky and wife, Becky, of Janesville, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Levi Lunsford, Gideon Lunsford, Daniel Lunsford and wife, Brandi, Aaron Lunsford, Brian Leggins II and significant other, Leaha, Evan Leggins, Max Spinsky and Clayton Spinsky; great-grandchildren, Harmony Leggins, Halie Lunsford, Alyssa Lunsford and Kaylin Lunsford.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, John Lardon.

Robert was a US Army veteran, serving in the cold war in the 82nd Airborne, as a paratrooper. He was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Plymouth.

Robert formerly worked in the sales department for Sargento. He also owned and operated an antique mall in Plymouth, Wisconsin.

He enjoyed going fishing, repairing antique clocks and spending time with his dog Ozzie.

Clayton James “C.J.” Caudill, 25, of Shelbyville passed away Saturday, March 13, 2021, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born January 14, 1996, in Indianapolis, the son of James G. Caudill and Jodi L. Garretson.

C.J. is survived by his father, Jim Caudill and wife, Deanne, of Shirley; brother, Luke Mattix of Knightstown; sister Olivia Mattix, of Savannah, Georgia; grandparents, Carol Lepper and husband, Tim, of Fort Wayne, Marsha and Jeff Thomas of Wilkinson, and Dennis and Kim Sitton of Pendleton; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother on October 19, 2020; grandmother, Doris Caudill; and grandfathers, Willie Caudill and Harry Garretson.

C.J. graduated in 2015 from New Haven High School in Fort Wayne.

He loved participating in bowling in the Special Olympics. C.J. also loved listening to music, especially his favorite band KISS. He loved people and his laugh was contagious.

Jack L. McDaniel, 85, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Heritage House Shelbyville.

He was born February 11, 1936 in Shelbyville to Clarence W. McDaniel and Erva Mae (Spurling) Randall.

He married Linda McDaniel on July 20, 1990, and she survives.  Jack is also survived by his children, Carly (Darwin) Staker of Whiteland; Cyndi Campbell of Milltown, IN: John (Rhonda) McDaniel of Taswell, IN,; Joni K. Shaw of Shelbyville; Patty (Ed) Reyling of English, IN; his step-children, James Tindle of Ohio, Jeff Tindle, of Shelbyville, Angie (Joe) Spurlock of Shelbyville, and Ryan Tindle of Shelbyville; 29 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and 2 siblings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-daughter, Tonya Warrick, grandsons, Kenny McDaniel and K.C. Geiling, and his great-grandchildren, Isaiah Geiling and Harley Dawn Campbell.

Jack was a bricklayer and appliance repairman.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Indiana National Guard.

He loved to watch CNN and keeping up with friends on Facebook.  He enjoyed his time with his dogs.  His favorite times were spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Michael S. Martin, 65, of Shelbyville passed away Monday, March 8, 2021 at his residence.

He was born April 22, 1955 in Detroit, MI to Robert E. Martin and Carolyn L. (Handy) Martin.

Michael loved his family and living a simple life.  Michael had a very good heart and was a kind person.  He will be remembered with love by everyone that knew him.

Michael was a devout member of Jehovah Witness.  He loved his kitty, Darlin.  Michael enjoyed going out to eat and he enjoyed cooking. 

He is survived by his brother, Rob (wife, Karin) Martin; his sister, Christina (husband, Dennis) Smith, all of Greenfield; his aunts, Mary Blignaut and Lauretta Handy, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marion Gordon Fox, 73, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2021 at his residence.

He was born January 18, 1948 in Memphis, TN to Louis Fox and Grace (Rawels) Fox.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran.  He enjoyed playing and watching golf and basketball.

He married Christy (Jones) Fox on June 29, 2019, and she survives.

Marion is also survived by his children, Mathew Fox, Christopher Fox, Jennifer Garber, Wanda Hughes, and Aaron Hughes.

Harold William Kaster, age 89, of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at the Kerrville VA Medical Center “Home of the Brave".

Harold William Kaster was born on October, 03, 1931 to Elmer and Mary Kaster in Shelbyville, Indiana.

He was inducted into the United States Air Force in Indianapolis, Indiana and served with distinction in the Armed Forces of The United States, retiring in San Antonio after 22 years of service. He served 11 years in the United States Air Force serving at Sampson AFB and Mitchel AFB in New York, Fort Lee in Virginia, Ardmore AFB in Oklahoma, Korea, and Bitburg AFB Germany. During this time he earned the following commendations: National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, The United Nations Service Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit, Good Conduct Medal with 3 Loops, SOA-969/392d CSGP/1960, AFOUA GO-63, DAF 58, 1958 Air Force Longevity Service Award with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster 59, Korean Service Medal 51.

He also served another 11 years in the United States Army serving at Ft. Ord, California; Camp Roberts, California; Verdun France; Fort Rucker, Alabama; Vietnam (two services); Indochina; and Fort Lee, Virginia. During this time he earned the following: Sps Badge, Rifle M-1; Expert Badge, Rifle M-14; Letter of Commendation, Hq, 3dBrg, USATC, Inf. Ft. Ord, California 12 Jan 62; Letter of Appreciation, USAR Equipment Pool, Camp Roberts, California 27 Jun 62, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal W/Device 1960, Good Conduct Medal (1-4 Awards), Vietnam Service Medal, ARCOM VSM-VN Counteroffensive Phase VII, OS Service Bars (4), AFOUA, AFLSA W/1st OLC.

Despite his busy military career, Harold found time for hobbies and artistic pursuits. He particularly enjoyed bowling and drawing.

Harold is survived by his daughters, June Logan, Linda Novy, Gigi Snyder, and Tami Kaster; his sons, Harold W. Kaster II, Jason Kaster, and Steven Kaster; his granddaughters, Amber Logan, Julie Lehman, Jenny Dawson, Amy McCue-Denney, Leah Kaster, Scarlett Kaster, and Isabella Kaster; his grandsons, Jonathan Logan, Roger Bialas, AJ Chilton, Chris McCue, Will Kaster, Sam Kaster, and Weston Kaster; his great-grandchildren, Andrew Logan, Amanda Payne, Summer Nichols, Cory Smith, Alexis Hunter, Brayden Denney, Lexi Denney, Lexie Brill, Allie Bialas, Aubree Kaster, Hunter Dawson, and Wyatt Dawson; and his great-great-grandchildren, Payton Payne, Linden Payne, Zander Atkins, Beckett Nichols, Emberlyn Smith, and Maverick Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Mary Kaster; and his siblings, Charles, Mary, Hazel, Roy, Jeanie, and Pauline.

Robert A. Flanagan, 64, of Morristown, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at MHP Medical Center.

He was born  July 5,1956 in Columbus, Ohio to Robert Wright and Rose Ann (Pomante) Flanagan, and was raised by his adoptive father, Hugh Flanagan. 

He married Lynn (Herriott) Flanagan on February 1, 1990, and she survives.  

Other survivors include his father, Hugh Flanagan of Bloomington, IL; son Lucas Flanagan of Indianapolis; and sister Lisa Osnowitz (husband David) of Bloomington, IL. 

He was preceded in death by his birth father, mother, and sister, Catherine Randell. 

Mr. Flanagan had lived in this area for 20 years after moving from Indianapolis. He worked for Kroger Co. for 30 years, serving as store manager for several central Indiana stores, retiring in 2019.
Robert graduated from Bloomington High School in Illinois, attended IUPUI and received his Bachelor's degree from Purdue University. 

Robert dearly enjoyed his family, animals, riding his motorcycle, and was an avid Beatles fan.

Rodney “R.C.” McDanel, 66, of Greenfield passed away March 2, 2021 at his home. He was born June 3, 1954 in Centerville, Iowa to Walter L. McDanel and Geneva M. Frantzreb.

Rodney served in the U.S. Air Force as a Military Police Officer and was honorably discharged. Once out of the service he went back to school to obtain his high school diploma from John Marshall High School in Indianapolis in 1984, then went on to receive his Associate Degree. Rodney married Tracie Karandos on July 1, 1976 in St. Louis, Missouri. Prior to his retirement, Rodney was a lineman and communications specialist for T.C.I. Rodney never knew a stranger and could “talk the ear off” of anyone he encountered. He loved gardening and cooking. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren Caylend, Makenzie, and Zander, along with his beloved puppy, Teddy.

He is survived by his mother, Geneva Frantzreb; wife, Tracie McDanel; children: Rachel Johnson, Darcy McDanel, Jason Godwin, Chad McDanel, and Nathaniel (Diana) McDanel; sisters: Brenda (Bill) Potts, Faith Lewis, and Freida (Michael) Phillips; brothers and sisters-in-law: Tony (Pam) Karandos, Robert Colcord, Tammy (Steve) Howard, Tena (Mike) May, and Tonia Karandos; grandchildren: Delaney, Caylend, Makenzie, Zander, Larry Lee, Zachary, Aaron, Christopher, Breanna, Kelsey, Jason, Madison, Alexa, and Lauryn; great-grandchildren: Hope, Zachary Jr., Haydon, and Jason; as well as his many nieces; nephews; and extended family that he loved dearly.

DeeAnn Boots, 78, Greenfield passed away Thursday, March 4, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 30, 1942 in Shelbyville, Indiana to the late Orville and Dorothy (Storm) Dishman. Dee married Charles A. Boots on June 28, 1958.

Dee and Charles purchased Worland Cleaners in 2002, which she owned and operated until her retirement in 2013. Dee was an avid reader and enjoyed Hallmark movies. Above all else, she enjoyed spending time with her family and best friend of over 70 years, Donna Arnold Monday. Dee attended Greenfield Friends Church.

Dee is survived by her children: April (Ron) Tompkins, Julie (Ottis) Sexton, Cassie (Steve) Graddy, Charles Boots, Jr., Wendy (Bret) Croteau, and Matt (Carrie) Boots; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; and best friend, Donna.

Rebecca D. “Becky” Jones, 65, of Bloomington, formerly of Shelbyville passed away Thursday, March 4, 2021 at her home.

She was born February 11, 1956, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Richard W. “Dick” Jones Sr. and Joanne (Stites) Jones.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Jennifer Lynn Hardin.

Becky graduated in 1974 from Shelbyville High School.

She attended First United Methodist Church in Shelbyville and City Church in Bloomington. Becky was secretary to the Quartermaster of the Indiana State Police for 10 years, served as a jail matron for the Brown County Sheriff’s Department for eight years, and worked at Joseph Kelley Attorney at Law office for over 15 years.

She and her sister, Christina, enjoyed owning and operating “Serendipity Coffee House” in Nashville for three years.

Becky loved her family, friends, nieces and nephews and enjoyed creating memories with each of them.

She also enjoyed researching genealogy with her sister, Debby for 20 years.

Becky was known as the family photographer and loved to entertain on the houseboat. She also enjoyed baking, reading and traveling.

Mark R. Eads, 69, of Shelbyville passed away Friday, March 5, 2021, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus.

He was born August 25, 1951, in Shelbyville, the son of Richard Earl and Pauline (Williams) Eads.

Mark is survived by his mother of Fort Myers, Florida; sons, Andy Eads and significant other, Nikki Adams, Jason Eads, Jarrod Procell, all of Shelbyville, and Del Denney and wife, Claudia, of Plainfield; daughter, Jessica Eads of Indianapolis; brother, Michael Eads and wife, Valerie, of Fort Wayne; sister, Melissa Conidaris and husband Robert, of Fort Myers, Florida; grandchildren, Megan Eads, Jordon Brown, Neko Procell, Chloe Denney, Ellie Denney and Kody Sellers; mothers of his children, Mary Eads and Leslie Eads; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Mark graduated in 1969 from Shelbyville High School.

He attended First United Methodist Church.

Mark was a journeyman electrician for Miller Eads Electrical, retiring in 2010.

He was a member of the Shelbyville Knights of Columbus and IBEW No. 481.

Mark enjoyed golfing and fishing. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and Indiana sport teams.

Mark never met a stranger and even if you met him once, he left an indelible mark on you. He always made you feel as if you were the most important person in the room.

Paul Raymond Elsbury, 72, Greenfield, passed away, Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at home surrounded by his family. He was born January 13, 1949 in Greenfield to the late Paul E. and Grace (Sleeth) Elsbury.

Paul proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp with a tour of duty in Vietnam and was the recipient of 2 Purple Hearts. Prior to retirement in 2015, was a dock worker for the U.S. Postal Service in Indianapolis. He was a member of the Greenfield American Legion and enjoyed watching television, especially wrestling.

He is survived by his children: Paul Jason (Michelle) Elsbury, Shane (Megan) Elsbury, and Abby (Christie) McFarland; sister, Gail Tribby; 10 grandchildren; and beloved and faithful companion, Toady.

A memorial visitation will be held 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, Indiana 46140. Loretta June Coots, 78, formerly of Fort Wayne and Wabash, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021 at her new residence in Greenfield. Loretta was born on June 14, 1942 in Ovenfork, KY, to Charlie and Lora (Maggard) Boggs. Loretta married her love Jackie Donald Coots on September 5, 1959 prior to his enlistment into the U.S. Air Force.

As Jackie traveled around the world serving our country for 22 ½ years, Loretta gladly accompanied him. She was employed at numerous places of employment, learned the different cultures, and made many friends along the way. Loretta collected Precious Moments figurines.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Jackie Coots and their son and his wife, Norman Randolph Coots (Carol Denise).

Full arrangements continue to pend at this time, but a visitation will be held soon in the chapel on Marion National Cemetery grounds, 1700 E. 38th Street, Marion, IN 46953. A limited amount of persons may gather at one time within the Chapel. A stern reminder that appropriately-worn face masks will be required. Burial will follow in Marion National Cemetery with a limit of 10 persons gathering. George A. Hoeltke, 93, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021 at
Waldron Health & Rehab.

Born August 7, 1927 in Bartholomew County, he was the son of Alvin Hoeltke and
Viola (Armuth) Hoeltke.  He married his wife of 66 years, Betty (Kuhn) Hoeltke on
December 19, 1954 and she preceded him on April 13, 2020.  

Survivors include one son- Jace Hoeltke (wife Delia) of Shelbyville; 2 grandchildren,
and 3 step-great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his spouse,
a brother Norbert Hoeltke, and a sister Corine Thompson.

Mr. Hoeltke was a lifelong resident of this area, and graduated from Mt. Auburn High School.
He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #70, and had been 
employed for many years as a machinist at White Evans Elevator in Indianapolis, Reliance
Electric of Columbus, and Triumph of Shelbyville, retiring in 1991.  He was a US Army veteran,
serving in Austria with the 54th AA Division, during WWII.

George enjoyed wood carving, wood burning, and oil painting.  He also enjoyed raising Holstein
and Brown Swiss cattle, and was formerly a partner in Sunshine Farms near Edinburgh.

Private family services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 5, 2021 at Glenn E. George
& Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with Rev. David Humphrey officiating. 

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. 

No visiting hours will be observed.

Janet S. Jewell, 68, of Edinburgh passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021, at Franciscan Hospice House in Greenwood.

She was born April 23, 1952, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Robert E. and Alberta Louise (Owens) Branson. She married her husband of 48 years, James Robert “Bob” Jewell, and he survives.

In addition to Bob, Janet is survived by her children, Mark Jewell and wife, Melissa, of Edinburgh, Kimberly Fowler of New Castle, and Brad Jewell and wife, Amy, of Franklin; brothers, James Branson and Kenneth Branson, both of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Kirsten Hibbard and husband, Brandon, Austin Linville, Lauren Smith, Evan Jewell, Emma Smith, Conner Jewell, Audrey Jewell, Eli Jewell and Peyton Fowler; great-grandchildren, Caroline Hibbard and Lincoln Hibbard, and one on the way; and a loving extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Branson; and sister, Phyllis Behrends.

Janet graduated in 1970 from Southwestern High School, and attended Ball State University for one year.

She was a member of the Greenwood Christian Church.

Janet enjoyed playing the piano, researching genealogy and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.

She loved her family and enjoyed the time spent creating memories with them.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon, Thursday, March, 4, 2021, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

Funeral services will be at noon Thursday at the funeral home, with Porter Riner officiating. Interment will be at Second Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Johnson County.

Pauline ‘Polly Ann” Bright, 88, of Shelbyville, passed away, Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Heritage House Shelbyville.

She was born January 4, 1933 in Lebanon, KY to Oscar Bright and Hattie Mae (Spurling) Bright.

Pauline loved to read, especially Nicholas Sparks novels.  In her younger years, she really enjoyed sewing and crafts.  Her favorite times were spent with family and going to family gatherings and events.

She is survived by her sisters, Sandra Coffey, Edith Gehring, and Madeline Warfield, all of Shelbyville; her sister, Jeanette Hopkinson, of Washington State; her brother, Oscar “Wink” Bright of Shelbyville, her sister-in-law, Connie Bright of Shelbyville, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and four sisters.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 12, 2021 at Forest Hill Cemetery.
