Shelbyville’s 4 x 800 meter relay team of Collin Scott, Joe Lux, Matt Baker, Alexis De Jesus and coach Nick Blakey highlighted the team’s school record performance in winning the Franklin Regional and their upcoming appearance at the track and field state tournament in Bloomington.

Zach Kuhn represents Shelbyville Golden Bears as Junior All-Star

Shelbyville Golden Bear Zach Kuhn knows what its like to play with elite talent. Appearing as a Junior All-Star this past weekend in an overtime loss against Kentucky was just another opportunity for the Golden Bear senior-to-be.

Kuhn and Golden Bear Head Coach Ryan Mack talked about the game and provided a look ahead to the upcoming high school season.

 

 

Southwestern baseball finishes with winning record for first time in 42 seasons

The Southwestern Spartans baseball season ended with a 9-2 loss to Lutheran in the Sectional 59 championship Monday.

Head coach Chris Ingels says it didn’t end the way they wanted but this season broke a string of better than four decades without a winning record for the program dating back to 1976.

You might have heard there’s another game at Seymour Saturday. Following the 1A semi-state between #4 Morristown and #5 Barr-Reeve, New Albany returns to its home away from home at Scott Gymnasium as the 3rd-ranked Bulldogs play undefeated #1 Warren Central in the 4A South Semi-State.

Shelbyville visits Morristown for the first time since 1911 in boys basketball. Yellow Jackets head coach Scott McClelland has the 3rd-ranked team in this week’s 1A poll and a record of 20-1 with two games to play in the regular season.

Coach McClelland talked with GIANT fm Sports about the unique matchup and the excitement associated with Saturday’s game.

Morristown Athletic Director Josh Johnson has the last few tickets available (well, maybe…might be gone now) to get into the gym Saturday night for the first Shelbyville boys basketball visit since 1911.

It’s a big night at Morristown which includes the first class of the Morristown Athletic Hall of Fame.

Shelbyville opens sectional play Tuesday with Columbus East

Shelbyville Lady Golden Bears (1-21)head coach Jason West talks about his team’s Tuesday sectional quarterfinal with Columbus East (14-9).

The winner plays Columbus North (17-6) in a Friday semifinal at East Central.

 

 

Southwestern will try to beat Oldenburg again but missing a big weapon

Freshman Lexi Wilkins connected for a school record eight 3-pt FG in a 70-60 victory over Oldenburg back in November. The teams meet again Tuesday in the Waldron sectional quarterfinal but the Spartans will be shorthanded with Wilkins out with injury.

Head coach Noah Stuckey talks about the Spartans season tying for the Mid-Hoosier Conference regular season title and the postseason opener with the Lady Twisters.

 

 

Golden Bears go after 6th straight win Tuesday at Roncalli

Shelbyville has won five in a row. The Golden Bears only loss since mid-December was to #11 (4A) Cathedral at the Bob Wettig Tournament. And that was a game the Golden Bears led by double digits in the 4th quarter.

 

Up next for Shelbyville (11-4) is a road trip to the Woodshed at Roncalli and Tuesday’s matchup with the Rebels (8-4).
